This role supports the Financial Controller in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and full compliance with statutory and tax requirements. The Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining accounting records in line with IFRS, TFRS, GAAP, and other regulatory standards while also supporting audit processes and financial governance within the organization.

It also involves contributing to efficient accounting operations, timely financial reporting, and continuous improvement of finance systems and procedures. The position plays an important role in managing working capital, strengthening internal controls, supporting tax compliance, and ensuring smooth coordination between internal departments, auditors, and regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare annual and interim financial statements in compliance with IFRS, TFRS, and regulatory requirements
• Maintain accurate General Ledger (GL) entries in accordance with accounting standards and company policies
• Perform regular GL and sub-ledger reconciliations for accuracy and completeness
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and regulatory use
• Ensure timely and accurate posting of financial transactions across departments
• Coordinate financial data collection for reporting purposes
• Support month-end closing and budgeting processes
• Strengthen internal controls across all accounting cycles including P2P, O2C, H2R, and B2R
• Identify control gaps and recommend corrective actions
• Participate in internal control reviews and process improvement initiatives
• Review tax returns including VAT, corporate tax, and withholding tax
• Prepare tax reconciliations and compliance reports
• Liaise with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) on tax matters
• Support tax audits with documentation and explanations
• Act as the main contact for external, internal, and tax auditors
• Coordinate audit processes and ensure timely resolution of findings
• Support inventory verification and stock-taking exercises
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes
• Manage supplier reconciliations and payments
• Monitor customer accounts and collections
• Support cash flow and working capital management
• Review ageing reports and reduce overdue balances
• Assist in finance policy development and updates
• Support financial modelling, ESG reporting, and special finance projects
• Contribute to automation and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field
• CPA (T), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in industrial or business sectors
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, TFRS, and Tanzanian tax regulations
• Experience in financial reporting and General Ledger management
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
• MBA is an added advantage
