Job Description

Johari Rotana is seeking a qualified and proactive Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to oversee the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Environment, Health, Safety, Food Safety, Sustainability, and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems throughout the hotel. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with corporate policies, local regulations, international standards, and industry best practices while promoting a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace for employees, guests, contractors, and visitors.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, and update Environmental Health & Safety and Food Safety policies, procedures, manuals, and guidelines.
  • Lead and participate in EHS, HACCP, ISO, Sustainability, and Occupational Health & Safety audits.
  • Establish and manage audit programs to ensure compliance with environmental, food safety, and occupational health regulations.
  • Analyze audit findings, identify trends, and implement corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Participate in incident investigations and conduct root cause analyses.
  • Develop and implement preventive measures to reduce workplace incidents and risks.
  • Design and conduct EHS and Food Safety training programs for employees.
  • Monitor supplier and contractor compliance with EHS and Food Safety standards.
  • Stay updated on changes in environmental, health, safety, and food safety legislation.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Maintain and control EHSMS and Food Safety documentation systems.
  • Support Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and sustainability programs.
  • Oversee implementation of Rotana Earth sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure environmental protection and the safety of guests, employees, and contractors.
  • Develop and maintain Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) procedures and manuals.
  • Lead implementation and monitoring of occupational health and safety programs.
  • Organize and facilitate OHS meetings, reviews, and compliance discussions.
  • Assist in setting EHS objectives, targets, and performance indicators.
  • Ensure all new employees receive mandatory EHS and OHS training.
  • Report EHS and OHSMS performance to senior management and regulatory authorities.
  • Communicate legal and regulatory requirements to relevant stakeholders.
  • Plan and conduct workplace audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation and corrective action plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety, Food Safety, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 22000, ISO 45001, or HACCP Lead Auditor Certification are highly desirable.
  • Additional qualifications in risk management, environmental management, or sustainability will be an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety, Food Safety Management, Sustainability Management, or Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Experience working within hospitality, tourism, manufacturing, healthcare, or other high-risk operational environments.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
  • Experience leading workplace safety and food safety initiatives.
  • Experience managing incident investigations and corrective action programs.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS).
  • Knowledge of HACCP, ISO standards, food safety systems, and sustainability frameworks.
  • Strong report-writing and documentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and hazard identification processes.
  • Effective planning, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive positive behavioral change.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in workplace software applications.
