Job Description
Sightsavers is seeking an experienced Learning Consultant to support the development of a comprehensive and inclusive learning framework that strengthens evidence generation, knowledge translation, and learning uptake across its programmes. This consultancy role offers an opportunity to contribute to international development initiatives by designing practical methodologies, tools, and guidance materials that help project teams generate insights, improve decision-making, and enhance programme effectiveness.
This position is ideal for professionals with expertise in organisational learning, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), knowledge management, and adaptive programming. The successful consultant will work closely with the MEL team to create user-friendly resources that enable project teams to independently conduct learning activities, analyse evidence, and apply findings to strategic and operational improvements across diverse development contexts.
Responsibilities:
- Support the MEL team in developing a coherent methodological framework for project-level learning.
- Design robust approaches for evidence acquisition, interpretation, knowledge translation, and learning uptake.
- Develop methodologies applicable at different stages of the project lifecycle, including mid-term and end-term learning reviews.
- Create practical tools, templates, and resources that operationalize learning methodologies.
- Develop user-friendly guidance materials that enable project teams to independently implement learning activities.
- Ensure all methodologies align with adaptive management and evidence-informed programming principles.
- Design an inclusive learning toolkit covering evidence generation, analysis, interpretation, and utilization.
- Provide guidance on effective learning methodologies and approaches for project-level learning.
- Develop sample tools and processes for creating learning-focused review questions and analytical frameworks.
- Tailor learning methodologies and tools to different thematic programme areas.
- Design learning workshop planning tools, templates, sample activities, and facilitation guides.
- Develop reporting templates and guidance for learning workshops, desk reviews, partner review meetings, and other learning activities.
- Ensure all materials follow inclusive and accessible design principles.
- Promote accessibility and usability across diverse user groups and implementation contexts.
- Contribute to strengthening organizational learning and continuous improvement processes.
Qualifications:
- Advanced academic background in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), International Development, Social Sciences, Education, Knowledge Management, Organizational Development, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Additional qualifications in learning and development, evaluation, research methods, or knowledge management are advantageous.
- Professional training in facilitation, adaptive management, or organizational learning is desirable.
Experience:
- Extensive experience designing learning methodologies, analytical frameworks, and learning systems for international development organizations.
- Proven experience translating complex concepts and theories into practical tools and guidance materials.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating workshops, learning events, reflection sessions, and evaluative learning processes.
- Experience working with project-level learning, evidence synthesis, and knowledge translation initiatives.
- Experience supporting adaptive management and evidence-informed decision-making processes.
- Experience working within social development, humanitarian, disability inclusion, or international NGO sectors.
- Experience with disability inclusion or social inclusion programming is highly desirable.
- Experience utilizing artificial intelligence tools to support learning and knowledge management is an added advantage.
