Job Description

AB InBev Africa is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Artisan to operate and maintain production process equipment while ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role is essential in maintaining smooth manufacturing operations, minimizing waste, and ensuring consistent product quality within a fast-paced FMCG production environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating process equipment according to standard procedures, conducting quality checks, performing routine maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Working as part of a production team, the Process Artisan will ensure equipment reliability, process stability, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate process equipment according to approved work instructions and operational standards.
  • Conduct quality checks in line with established quality control procedures.
  • Record production waste and monitor trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor process performance against set production targets and standards.
  • Complete Short Interval Control (SIC) documentation accurately and on time.
  • Respond promptly to process disruptions in upstream and downstream operations.
  • Apply structured problem-solving techniques to address operational issues.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in line with 5S principles.
  • Identify and correct unsafe work practices in the production area.
  • Perform cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of machinery according to maintenance schedules.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Escalate major equipment faults to the Team Leader when necessary.
  • Participate in maintenance activities, shutdowns, and cleaning campaigns.
  • Support maintenance teams during scheduled maintenance interventions.
  • Monitor equipment performance trends and initiate corrective actions where needed.
  • Conduct non-destructive quality inspections and ensure accurate recording of results.
  • Identify and resolve quality-related issues using approved troubleshooting methods.
  • Escalate unresolved quality concerns to supervisors or team leaders.
  • Participate in shift meetings, communication sessions, and operational discussions.
  • Record issues, improvement ideas, and operational gaps using team systems.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and focused improvement activities.
  • Use analytical tools such as Pareto analysis, root cause analysis, and control charts to identify process variation and waste.
  • Collaborate with team members and specialists to implement process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • N4 Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Valid Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines.
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and production processes.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
  • Strong quality control and inspection skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
