Job Description
Tengeru Institute of Community Development (TICD) is inviting applications from qualified and dedicated professionals for the position of Assistant Lecturer (Social Work). The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering quality instruction, preparing learning resources, conducting research, supervising student projects, and participating in consultancy and community service activities. Working within a higher learning environment, the Assistant Lecturer will help equip students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundations required to address social challenges and improve the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.
Responsibilities:
- Teach Social Work courses up to NTA Level 8, equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree level.
- Prepare learning resources and instructional materials for tutorial exercises and classroom teaching.
- Conduct research, seminars, workshops, and case studies related to social work and community development.
- Carry out consultancy assignments and community service activities under supervision.
- Supervise students’ academic projects, fieldwork, and research activities.
- Prepare teaching manuals, course outlines, and other academic materials.
- Assess students’ academic performance and provide academic guidance where necessary.
- Support curriculum development and academic quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in institutional research and community outreach programs.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work from a recognized institution with a GPA of 3.8 or above.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from a recognized institution with a GPA of 3.5 or above.
- Strong knowledge of social work theories, practices, and professional ethics.
- Ability to teach, conduct research, and supervise student projects.
- Good analytical, research, and report-writing skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in an academic and research environment.
- Commitment to professionalism, social justice, and academic excellence.
