Job Description

Tengeru Institute of Community Development (TICD) is inviting applications from qualified and passionate professionals for three Assistant Lecturer positions in Community Development. The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering quality instruction, preparing learning resources, conducting research, supervising student projects, and participating in consultancy and community service activities. Working within a higher learning institution dedicated to community empowerment and development, Assistant Lecturers will play a key role in advancing academic excellence while promoting practical solutions to social and developmental challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Community Development courses up to NTA Level 8, equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree level.
  • Prepare learning resources and instructional materials for tutorial exercises and classroom teaching.
  • Conduct research, seminars, workshops, and case studies related to community development and social transformation.
  • Supervise students’ academic projects, research work, and field assignments.
  • Prepare teaching manuals, course outlines, and other academic materials.
  • Participate in consultancy assignments and community service activities under supervision.
  • Assess students’ academic performance and provide academic guidance where necessary.
  • Support curriculum development and academic quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to institutional research and community outreach programs.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Community Development from a recognized institution with a GPA of 3.8 or above.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Community Development from a recognized institution with a GPA of 3.5 or above.
  • Strong knowledge of community development theories, practices, and participatory approaches.
  • Ability to teach up to NTA Level 8 (Bachelor’s Degree level).
  • Strong research, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to prepare learning resources and teaching manuals.
  • Knowledge of consultancy practices and community service engagement.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in an academic and research environment.
  • Commitment to professionalism, ethical conduct, and academic excellence.
