Job Description
Tengeru Institute of Community Development (TICD) is inviting applications from qualified and motivated legal professionals for the position of Assistant Lecturer (Law). The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching law courses, preparing academic resources, conducting research, supervising students’ academic work, and participating in consultancy and community service activities. Working within a dynamic academic environment, the Assistant Lecturer will play a vital role in promoting legal knowledge, critical thinking, and professional ethics among students while supporting the institute’s mission of education and community development.
Responsibilities:
- Teach Law courses up to NTA Level 8, equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree level.
- Prepare learning resources and instructional materials for tutorial exercises and classroom teaching.
- Conduct research, seminars, workshops, and case studies in relevant areas of law.
- Carry out consultancy assignments and community service activities under close supervision.
- Supervise students’ seminars, research projects, and fieldwork activities.
- Prepare, coordinate, and manage students’ seminar tasks and academic assignments.
- Prepare training manuals and other learning and training materials.
- Assess students’ academic performance and provide guidance where necessary.
- Support curriculum development and academic quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Law from a recognized institution with a GPA of 3.8 or above.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized institution with a GPA of 3.5 or above.
- Strong knowledge of legal principles, legislation, and legal research methodologies.
- Ability to teach, conduct research, and supervise students’ academic work.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in an academic and research environment.
- Commitment to professional ethics, integrity, and academic excellence.
