Job Description
Tengeru Institute of Community Development (TICD) is inviting applications from qualified and dedicated professionals for the position of Assistant Lecturer (Environmental Health). The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering quality instruction, preparing academic resources, conducting research, supervising student projects, and participating in consultancy and community service activities. Working within a higher learning institution, the Assistant Lecturer will support the institute’s mission of promoting sustainable development, environmental protection, and public well-being through education, research, and community engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Teach Environmental Health courses up to NTA Level 8, equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree level.
- Prepare learning resources and instructional materials for tutorial exercises and classroom teaching.
- Conduct research, seminars, workshops, and case studies related to Environmental Health and public health issues.
- Supervise students’ academic projects, fieldwork, and research activities.
- Prepare teaching manuals, course outlines, and other academic documents.
- Participate in consultancy assignments and community service activities under supervision.
- Assess students’ academic performance and provide guidance where necessary.
- Support curriculum development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Promote awareness of environmental health challenges and sustainable solutions.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Environmental Health from a recognized institution with a GPA of 3.8 or above.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health from a recognized institution with a GPA of 3.5 or above.
- Strong knowledge of environmental health principles, public health systems, and environmental protection practices.
- Ability to teach, conduct research, and supervise student projects.
- Good analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in an academic and research environment.
- Commitment to professional ethics and academic excellence.
